Helping organizations turn complex systems, processes, and subject-matter expertise into training and knowledge people can use has been the common thread throughout my career.

That career has included instructional design, learning development, technical writing, knowledge management, business analysis, product management, project management, and team leadership. The titles have varied, but the work has usually centered on the same challenge: making complicated information clear, useful, and easier to act on.

For more than 20 years, my work has focused on learning initiatives for technology-driven organizations in the airline, hotel, travel, and food service industries. Projects have included instructor-led and virtual training, eLearning, facilitator and participant materials, assessments, job aids, onboarding programs, knowledge content, and training videos. Much of this work has involved international teams and customers around the world.

Most recently, consulting work with IHG included learning programs for hotel revenue management, property systems, and hotel operations. The work covered ILT and VILT course development, eLearning, assessments, facilitator materials, and participant resources. A separate collaboration with the HotelKey delivery team involved creating online training videos in Synthesia, supported by scripts, screen recordings, narration, captions, and software demonstrations for hotel users.

The best fit is often a project where involvement begins early and continues through delivery. This can mean working with business owners and subject-matter experts to define the need, organize the content, design the learning approach, develop the materials, and make sure the finished product works for the people expected to use it.

Sometimes training is the answer. Sometimes the real issue involves documentation, workflow, communication, product design, or access to reliable information. Experience across several disciplines makes it easier to recognize the difference and recommend an approach suited to the actual need.

Additional experience includes building and leading learning, knowledge management, and content teams; supporting major system implementations; and helping organizations create more consistent ways to develop and maintain content. Clear expectations, direct communication, strong working relationships, and work with a practical purpose matter to me.

Current interests include consulting and full-time opportunities in instructional design, learning development, training video production, knowledge management, content architecture, software adoption, and AI-supported content development.

Outside client work, I write about learning, knowledge sharing, software adoption, and practical uses for new content tools. There is also some passable voice-over talent available when circumstances require it.
